In this spotlight, we chat with Corvallis, Oregon stylist Kelsey Hardin! We’re so excited to share Kelsey’s story with you and talk all about her plans for this year!
HI KELSEY! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I was born and raised in Oregon. I have a black lab named Marlo who stole my heart 6 years ago! If I am not behind the chair creating magic, I’m usually exploring with my fiancé and pup!
WE WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT’S BROUGHT YOU TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW! TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER AS A HAIRSTYLIST — HOW YOU STARTED, ALL THAT FUN STUFF!
I started in this industry almost 4 years ago! I was working as a Front Desk Coordinator at a salon in Downtown Corvallis while attending Oregon State University. I soon found my passion in life was right in front of me. After a year I decided to drop out of college and attend beauty college!
I was in cosmetology school for about 9 months and then RIGHT AWAY went and did a 1-on-1 mentorship program specializing in extensions and color. I worked alongside a stylist for 7 months while learning and building to soon go out on my own!
I have been an independent stylist for almost 2 years and wouldn't change it for the world. I've learned so much over the years working alongside a lot of amazing stylists. It's really made me who I am today as a person and behind the chair.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER STYLISTS AS WE ENTER A NEW YEAR?
DON'T GIVE UP. Enjoy the journey and learn all the things. But always remember, never stop learning and never stop loving yourself and your career along the way.

This year, I am looking forward to continuing my education and learning new things. I have a high hope for some normalcy this year! I’m excited to travel and meet some amazing people in our industry while growing my knowledge more then ever!
