In this spotlight, we chat with Durant, Oklahoma based stylist Alicia Webb! We’re so excited to share Alicia’s story with you and talk all about her plans for 2021!
HI ALICIA! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
Hi!! Let’s start with the basics! I am 24 and I am from Duncan, OK! I have been living in Durant, OK for the past three years. My now husband brought me here! We are starting a new chapter as newlyweds — my husband and I got married at the end of last year. It’s definitely been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t change it.
I’m that OCD, perfectionist, type A personality. I’m driven by coffee and thinking I can do all the things: wife, dog mom, business owner, social media advocator, and a full time hair artist!
WE WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT’S BROUGHT YOU TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW! TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER AS A HAIRSTYLIST — HOW YOU STARTED, ALL THAT FUN STUFF!
My journey didn’t start with that magical moment when you “just know” what you’re supposed to do in life. As much as a planner as I’d like to be, I am still that person that goes with the flow. I made a snap decision to go to cosmetology school after being on a nursing track in college. I did always know I wanted to help others, but now it’s in a much more magical way. I love when clients see themselves in a new way and have a newfound self confidence.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER STYLISTS AS WE ENTER A NEW YEAR?
You’re going to get tough love from me! No one is going to do it for you. If you want something out of your career, you have to do it. You have to want it so bad that it’s hard to breathe. Stay humble in your work, hustle, and pray. Throw those words of affirmation out into the universe and stay true to yourself. Do it for you, because sis, you’re worth all of it!
CAN YOU TELL US WHY YOU CHOOSE TO USE HAND-TIED EXTENSIONS AND WHY YOU USE HARPER ELLIS’S HAIR?
I’m always asking myself why I didn’t use Harper Ellis sooner! It’s the quality for me! So much detail goes into hand-tied hair extensions. I consider myself a colorist and finding the perfect tone and shade for extensions has been trial and error, but I am obsessed with Harper Ellis. Their color options are out of this world! I love creating custom lived in colors from their line.
TELL US SOMETHING YOU’RE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE NEW YEAR.
More growth, more opportunities. I’ve got my eyes set on something big for my career and I’d love to see that unfold in the next year. I also wouldn’t mind starting a little family of my own!
